Sprinkles on windshields greeted Valley motorists during Monday's morning rush hour, and there's a good chance of rain through Wednesday as two storm fronts move into Arizona, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service said there's just a slight chance of sprinkles on Monday from a subtropical disturbance but that rises to a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday, 60 percent Tuesday night and Wednesday and 30 percent Wednesday night as a much stronger storm front moves in from the east Pacific Ocean.
Temperatures also are expected to fall, from 79 degrees for Monday's high to 71 for Wednesday's, with Monday night's low of 60 giving way to a low of 53 Wednesday night. advertisement
The first storm is expected to bring a chance of showers to the state's northern mountains Monday, but the second is expected to bring snow around the 8,000-foot level Monday night, falling to 7,500 feet Tuesday and 6,500 feet Tuesday night.
Most of the precipitation will be rain, forecasters said, but the total snowfall will be 4 to 8 inches above 7,500 feet and only 1 to 3 inches at 6,500 feet.
