Police seek 3 in robbery, shooting

Police are searching for three men who shot and robbed a man early Thursday morning and then took his car.
Police said the 21-year-old victim from Tempe, whose name has not been released, was approached about 1:45 a.m. by the men in the parking lot of Zia Records, near University Drive and Mill Avenue. The men told the man to empty his pockets and stole his car keys, cellphone, driver's license and cash, Tempe police Sgt. Dan Masters said.
The men then punched and kicked the man to the ground. Before taking his car, one man shot the man in the left shoulder.
The car was recovered in the area about 7 a.m. Thursday.
The robbery is not being linked to a string of violent armed robberies in the area, Masters said.

Police would not release the victim's name.
2 men who assaulted Tempe woman sought TEMPE - Police are still looking for two men who took an 18-year-old woman hostage for five hours last week and sexually assaulted her multiple times in an alley.
The victim met with police Wednesday. She told police that she had just stepped off a city bus at 4 p.m. last Friday near McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard and was walking north when a man began talking to her.
She said he forced her onto a side street and into a nearby alley in the 1500 block of East Apache Boulevard. The man, armed with a handgun, threatened to kill her if she did not comply, she said.
One man is described as Black, 40 years old, 5 feet 4, 180 pounds, with thinning hair, a mustache, and a scar on his left forearm. The second man is described as Hispanic, in his early 20s, 5 feet 5, with a mole by his right eye. Anyone with information is asked to call (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
